Q1. What does "RFx" stand for?
 
A1. There are many types of bid documents that a company might recieve from a potential client. These documents can have any of a number of different titles, including request for proposal (RFP), request for information (RFI), request for quote (RFQ), call for bids, call for tenders, and intent to bid (ITB). Because proposal managers typically create response document for all of these types of proposal requests, proposal development and other management professionals often refer to them as "RFx response documents". "RFx" simply stands for "request for x" with "x" being replaced by "proposal", "information", "quote" or another term.
 
 
Q2. How do you keep our intellectual property (IP) secure?
 
A2. Depending on your preferences and budget, there are a number of different means availalbe. Options include:
  • Establish a connection for our team to your own secure online document storage system and email.
  • Store all bid preparation documents on a secure document management portal (internal or external) of your choosing and communicate and transfer documents via secure email only.
  • Perform all bid preparation offline and communicate and transfer documents via secure email or fax only.
  • Perform all bid preparation offline and transfer all materials via live handoff or mail or courier only.
 
Q3. What is your process for file backup?
 
A2. Depending on your preferences and budget, there are a number of different means availalbe. Options include:
  • Establishing a connection for our team to your own secure online document storage system and uploading all materials to your secure site on a daily basis.
  • Storing all documents on a secure document management portal (internal or external) and uploading all materials to this secure site on a daily basis.
  • Burning all files daily to an external storage solution (i.e., external disk drive, CD, thumb drive, etc.)
  • Employ the services of a vendor that specializes in secure file backup solutions.
   
Q4. What is your disaster recovery/business continuity (DR/BC) approach?
 
A4. Depending on your preferences and budget, disaster recovery/business continuity can be set up as follows:
  • Have additional PCs or MacBooks available and ensure all files are backed up daily in case one or more computing devices crashes.
  • In case of power outage, have a rechargeable battery backup system available to supply up to twelve hours of computing time and Internet access in case of continuous blackout.
  • Establish an additional and alternative Internet connectivity option to help ensure continous communication should any type of outage disrupt connectivity. This may include a wireless connectivity option.
  • Employ the services of a vendor that specializes in DR/BC solutions.
 
Q5. What is your pricing model?
 
A5. Depending on your preferences and budget, several different pricing models are available:
  • A flat hourly rate for all services (proposal development, writing/editing, RFP analysis, formatting, printing/binding/shipping, etc.) and expenses (production, travel, supplies).
  • A flat hourly rate for all services with expenses for production, travel and supplies billed separately.
  • Separate hourly rates for different services (proposal developmen, writing/editing, RFP analysis, formatting, printing/binding/shipping, etc.) with expenses for production, travel and supplies billed separately.
  • A fixed price for the entire project (detailed requirements must be established before pricing can be developed).
  • Fixed price by phase (each phase must be scoped out in detail before pricing can be developed).
 
Q6. What are your payment terms?
 
A6. Payment terms are Net 30 days with 50% of estimated costs due before services begin.
 
 
Q7. How long has your company been in business?
 
A7. Since November 2008.

Q9. Do you have a business license?
 
A9. Yes. RFx Consulting is licensed to do business in the State of Washington. A copy of this license can be provided upon request.
 
 
Q10. What best practices/standards do you apply in developing proposals?
 
A10. RFx Consulting LLC's applies proposal development practices drawn from a number of different industry standards, such as those established by Shipley, the Association of Proposal Management Professional (APMP), Tom Sant, PSA Associates, and the Project Management Institute.
